Peter and Joe are roomates in Taipei. They both like to cook good meals and have dinner parties, but they have different ideas about what to cook. Peter likes to cook simple food. His favorite foods are steak, potatoes, and apple pies. But Joe prefers special dishes from far-aways places. He likes to cook Indian curries and to prepare Japanese sushi. No matter who’s cooking, dinner at Peter and Joe’s apartment is always delicious.
Shopping for food today is not the same as it used to be. In the past, every neighborhood had a little food market. Now every neighborhood has a big supermarket. These are very different places. The old markets were usually small and friendly. People from the neighborhood often stopped there to hear the news or to talk. However, this is not true in today’s supermarkets. Supermarkets are usually large and not very friendly. They are not good places for meeting friends or talking. Many shoppers in supermakets seem to be tired and in a hurry. Often the clerks are not very polite, too.
Welcome to your favorite radio show, “Music Wonderland!” March 21 will be the 300th birthday of Bach, the Father of Music. So this month we are going to have several special programs on this great man of Music.
Johann Sebastian Bach was born in Germany in 1685. During his lifetime, Bach wrote a lot of music for the church and for his students, but he himself did not keep his own works (作品)carefully. Luckily, his second wife copied them and saved them for him. So today we can still remember Bach through his music.
Bach married twice in his life and had 20 children altogether(總共). He was a man who loved his family very much. When his first wife planned to learn the piano, he wrote two music books for her. And he also wrote for one of his daughters to tell her that too much coffee was bad for her healthe. I am now going to paly a song for you from this interesting Coffee Cantata. And we will hear more about Bach after the song. 【93II】
